St. Catherine’s is well served by it’s 4-part, choir which numbers around thirty members. They sing on Sunday mornings at the 10.30 am service and the occasional choral Evensong service at 6.00 pm. The choir also performs concerts and special services for the life of the church. Once a year a Parish outing is held where the choir sings the services at some significant places of worship e.g., Canterbury Cathedral, York Minster and Worcester. We have a 3-manual electric organ with an organist/choir trainer. A grand piano is also available.
Throughout the year, the choir also hold several fund raising events and parttake in many social activities, such as a Skittles Night, Pancake Evening, Parish Picnic, BBQ and Christmas Dinner. As a group we work hard both in rehearsals and services supporting the prayer and worship within the community.
Our choir is currently recruiting new members, both adults and children. No singing experience is required. Full training is available and RSCM courses and awards are also available for anyone who chooses to work on them. Please see the RSCM websire for more details. The RSCM courses are an excellent way for young people to gain experience and confidence whilst meeting new people in the process. These courses are thoroughly recommended and help to fund them is available.
